Church Mission
Mission was important in the founding of Mt. Hope. A $5 gold coin sent west by a pastor's wife in West Virginia was the first money contributed for the building of our church on what was then the frontier in Iowa. Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church contributes to the mission work of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Mt. Hope has also long contributed to One Great Hour of Sharing. This giving has now come back full circle as volunteers from Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, and money from OGHS, are helping in the aftermath of the June 2008 flooding in Iowa. Mt. Hope has also supported various local mission causes, such as youth recreation activities in Spring Grove, and the Food Shelf in Waukon. |
