Celebrating 150 Years 1858-2008 Here at Mt. Hope we give thanks to God that, for 150 years now, he has called us to worship and serve him, and to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church was founded in 1858 when settlers came over from England to farm in the valley of the Upper Iowa River, amidst the scenic hills and bluffs of northeast Iowa. In 1870 the church building was erected up on the side of a bluff, overlooking the river valley. Today the people of Mt. Hope live in the surrounding countryside and surrounding communities, and they continue to give thanks for all that God has done and is doing through his Church.
